Is there an award for Best Looking Bar in Tampa? If so, this one takes the cake–or cocktail, that is. O Cocina has been open for several months, but we did not cross paths until this past weekend. I attempted going on Friday night, but was too late. I was so anxious to go that I went at the crack of dawn (12:00 PM) the next day for lunch. For research purposes, I had to get a cocktail… “Professor Plum” did not disappoint, and was a little too easy to drink that early in the day. College football was playing on either side of the bar, but I was too mesmerized by the succulent wall to care about any of it.
O Cocina serves upscale Mexican cuisine in South Tampa (on Henderson Blvd). Being a strong advocate for a nice, late breakfast, the Queso Fundido affirmed my decision to trade in my french toast for tortillas. I got carne asada, camarones, and cornmeal dusted black grouper. FYI: This place is not open on Monday’s and is only open on Sunday’s for Brunch. BUT they are on OpenTable so you can reserve a table ahead of time 🙂
