All Things Tampa recently hit 500 followers on Instagram–something that I never thought I’d see. I love writing about this city but didn’t think that 500+ people would love hearing about it too. So, thank YOU for your support! I can’t wait to continue to grow this site. Ok now to the good stuff: FREE DOUGHNUTS! As a way to personally thank people for following my blog, I have teamed up with my favorite hidden gem, Grille One Sixteen, to offer you all a free doughnut if you dine at the restaurant. All you have to do is make a reservation here, and type “All Things Tampa” when it prompts you for special notes concerning the reservation. This offer will be good from now until September 20th, so make your reservation soon! If you’ve never dined at Grille One Sixteen, here’s a little background on it so you know what to expect.
It’s a swanky, American Contemporary restaurant that’s been locally owned since 2007. Outside of its ownership, the restaurant prides itself on buying local as well (which I love, of course). Bread from La Segunda Bakery, an espresso balsamic reduction for steaks from Joe and Sons’ Olive Oils–this place loves supporting other local businesses. They recently rolled out a new cocktail and bar menu. Something about this cocktail menu made me want to step out of my gin comfort zone… I had “LA’s Fitness”, a twist on the classic scotch sour, and also tried the “Ryesberry Bramble” with raspberries, fig and ginger jam, and Wild Buck Rye (handmade in Weeki Wachee). Both were incredible cocktails. We shared the Jammin’ Salmon Tartare (yes, it was very jammin’) for an appetizer and fought over the last piece. We kind of went into this with a “go big or go home” attitude and ordered an 8oz filet with scallops as a compliment to the steak… I have zero regrets. My clean plate spoke for itself.
The food doesn’t even measure to the impeccable service, which can be hard to find these days. Try it out this weekend and have a free doughnut to finish off your meal. They’ve sold over 300,000 of them, so I wouldn’t second guess any place that’s sold that many doughnuts.
